CELEBRATION MEETING
A celebration meeting was held at a village named Xikwaxane during which certificates of achievement were handed to 38 students for successfully completing their one year courses presented by Titus and Zulmira heading the Rivoni Tomanine hub. These certificates were in respect of the:
- First year course on the Old Testament: 16 students, all being members of the local Assemblies of God congregation.
- Second year course on the Gospels and the book of Acts: 22 students, also from the local Assemblies of God congregation.
TRAVELLING THERE.
To travel from Chinhacanine Headquarters to Xikwaxane, which is way north-east, beyond Nhalane and Ndindiza, you have to be tough, both in body and in spirit. Nelson travelled the bad dirt road of some 100km sitting in the back of a lorry, his face covered by sunglasses and a mask, to protect him from the swirling dust.
Then, when night had already fallen, came the worst part: travelling the rest of the way by ox cart. Here, Titus is being helped onto the cart by the “driver”.
Yet, it is better than walking the remaining kilometers. The next day, after the meeting, Nelson, the Leader of the Mission and Titus, the Hub Superintendant, had to return home by the same means.
At the meeting, Nelson Muiambo shared the Word of God from Mark 11:12-14, emphasizing the need of bearing fruit, stressing that the Lord delights in those whose faith is seen in their lives. (He cursed the fig tree that boasted abundant leaves, but bore no fruit.)
TESTIMONIES BY STUDENTS AND LEADERS
Lurdes Chauque, (first year course on OT) spoke on Esther, saying that she is a role model to all ladies, both in church and at home. Many benefited by what she did. She risked her life and saved the people of God in ancient Babylon when there was a decreet for their slaughter.
Amélia Levi Manganye (OT), spoke about Joseph’s forgiveness to his brothers and it’s implications for us.
Pastor Maringa, (who had also entered for and passed the GA course) spoke on the importance of having compassion towards others as our Lord did towards us as sinners, demonstrating it in his handling of Judas Iscariot, knowing since the beginning, that he would be the one who would betray him.
Francisco Timane, a secular school teacher, enrolled for, and passed, both the first and second year courses simultaneously. He testified of what a blessing it had been to him. He considered himself as very privileged for he had found a life treasure in these studies.
Pastor Chitlango, the superintendent pastor of the Assemblies of God Church for the north-eastern section of the Gaza province, expressed his pleasure in the work done by Rivoni Ministries amongst all the branches under his leadership, and especially at Xikwaxane for the results acheived, speak for itself.
The community leader of Xikwaxane, said that it was such a privilege to have Rivoni Ministries as a partner in educating his people there at Magwimbe, Xikwaxane.
Lurdes Chauque, (see above) is also the representative of the community leader and testified of what a privilege it was for her village to receive a blessing like that witnessed today at this ceremony. “May it be carried forward”.
