BOAVIDA BALOI
Boavida was born at Matitse in Mozambique on 1965-12-20 and grew up tending his father’s flock. At age 23 he fled to SA to escape the raging civil war. There, in 1990, he accepted the Lord Jesus as Saviour at a tent campaign, then became a member of the Presbyterian- and later of the Assemblies of God church. In 1998 he passed matric (grade 12) at the Giyane High School (SA) and in 2001 completed a three year theological course at Harvesters Theological Seminary. Then, in 2001 he returned to his “roots” his hometown in Mozambique. Apart from his mother tongue, Shangaan, and the local official language, Portuguese, Boavida is fluent in English.

BRIZDA BALOI
Brizda, who also was born at Matitse, fled to the village of Barragem during the civil war. There she attended school, completed grade 5, also got born again and then returned to Matitse. She then continued her school studies and got her grade 10 certificate in 2014.

THEIR LIFE AS A COUPLE
Boavida and Brizda have been married for 21 years (as at 2023). They have 3 sons, all of which are still living with them.
In 2006 they joined Rivoni Ministries and did the first year course, then became class teachers. Baloi also assisted in translating the Mission’s study guides from English to Shangaan. He was later appointed as Director of Rivoni Ministries Mozambique and is now serving as hub Superintendent at Mabalane.
